EATEN BY SNAKES
Eaten By Snakes are a Post-Punk / Pop / Synth two-piece from Bielefeld, Germany.
They formed in 2017 after their former band Modern Saints was put on the shelf for yet indefinite time. Deriving from a classic Garage / Pop-Punk type lineup, Daniel on drums and David on vocals / guitar added analogue synthesizers to their sound and took the melodic turn. Musical influences range from THE THERMALS to THE DAMNED, from PORTUGAL. THE MAN to FONTAINES D.C., and whatever lies within or outside these boundaries.
After releasing their first self titled EP in 2018, featuring four rough outlines of where this experiment might go, they’ve shared stages with Samiam and Hot Water Music, played Zürich’s Obenuse Fest, Hamburg’s Booze Cruise Festival and Rotterdam’s Stardumb Riot. All according to plan so far, so in late 2019 the band took all their enthusiasm and ten songs into the studio, and fired their debut LP‘Calming Pink‘ right into ...a global pandemic. So much for that.
Even greater times for sarcastic lyrics ever since, so they hit the studio again to record their Not Sorry Records debut ‘Peace And Love‘.
The release was followed by a number of shows, amongst which supporting AS FRIENDS RUST and HOT WATER MUSIC, playing festivals in New York City and Montreal.
Soundwise, Eaten by Snakes enhanced their definition of punk rock with a handful of drum loops and piano samples.Always remembering their favorite Bible quote: One, two, three, four, who’s punk? What’s the score?

"After listening to some heavier, more hard-hitting stuff lately, a few calmer tones feel just right. Though the “calmer” part really only applies to the music. Taking a closer look at the lyrics, the two guys from Eaten By Snakes are actually pretty angry in what they have to say — or maybe more pessimistic. Either way, they’ve wrapped it all up in groovy, danceable songs."
